post-6176-1183915729_thumb.jpgWel there i was wondering if anyone could help me? Ive recently fitted a Rs1800 block an loom into my Mk4 with the intentions of turboing it when i get the normal injection engine running properly. The problem i have now is my engine is fitted and ready to go all but the 8 wires on the conector block from the fiesta loom. Im running an '88 loom in the car. Can anybody tell me what these 8 wires do and how you connect it up? Many thanks Bob

if i get this right you want to use a 88spec car loom and a fester engine loom? then mate them together?

Thats how i understand it, it can be done.

On the engine bay loom, which includes the ECU, there is a big black plug with 8 wires on it. Theres a permanant live, a switched live, an earth or 2, 1 for the fuel pump (which u don't use), & 2 that go to the coil wires (the coil is made redundant as is the dizzy). The other 1 or 2 wires don't need connecting, iirc!

I'll dig around and get the exact colours and where they go

found it. mine had 9 wires in a 12 way plug but it might be of some help anyway.

pin 1 - brown - earth

pin 2 - green - rev counter

pin 3 - brown - earth to fuel pump relay

pin 4 - black - ignition live (i think) not 100% sure but thats what mines hooked to

pin 5 - black/red - ignition live for lamda sensor

pin 6 - red - Permanant live

pin 7 - brown/green - oil presure light

pin 8 - black/green - Ignition live for engine sensors

pin 9 - brown/white - water temp gauge

pin 10 - empty

pin 11 - empty

pin 12- empty

I'd double check this before you wire any of it up and don't blame me if it blows anything up but this is how i wired mine and it all seems to work fine.

not sure if you might have to use a water temp sensor from a CVH as i dont think my temprature gauge is quite right.

youre a legend cheers very much youve made me a very happy man! if youre having temp problems some of the zetecs came with a temp switch in the top radator hose as well as one in the thermostat housing the fiesta zetec had one. dat might help the problem. You wouldnt be able to tell me what altenator bracket you used as my engine had been fitted with power steering and i dont know if ill have to change it. thanks again.

my engine didn't have power steering so i just used the alternator bracket that was already on it. i think its the same one for any zetec xr2i/rs1800 without power steering. its the one that sort of hangs under the front engine mount. i also used the extra front engine mount from the fiesta by "adjusting" the inner wing a bit with a hamer, cutting a bit of the mount and welding some nuts into the chasis rail.
