I might be in a position to buy some mint 18" escort wheels.

I need to know this, If i fit them will i have any issues? Basically the car is not lowered and i am not interested in lowering it, the tyres on the wheels are 215x35x18, i have read that this is fine and i should get no arch issues either

Is this all good or am i asking for trouble?

hi mate , i've got 18" on my mk 4 cab, lowered 45mm, but ive had wide wings put on, the only problem that you might have is when on full lock it will fowl the suspension components and catch on inner wing easy to overcome with some spacers though is there any way you could try one , to make sure.

if you've got a mk4 cabby then there is no chance in hell. i've got 17" on mine and the only reason they don't rub is due to the suyspension being so stiff, and also the right off set.

18" and with normal suspension, your be lucky to move more than two foot with out rolling your arches and putting a full suspension kit on with hard set-up. at 215 wide wouldn't they catc the suspension legs. on a mk4 they would as far as i know.

i think you would need spacers, and then you've got the issue of the outter arch again.. but i suppose there isn't any harm of doing a try fit. but your have to be carful not to gash out his tyres..

oh right. i know the arch set-up is alot different, but the suspensionm will have to be stiffened up i reckon..

Not had chance yet, been thinking about it and they could possibly make it look like a crap 4x4 lol

And it'll handle like a sack of...... most likely.

they say if you want to make the handling or you escort brilliant you shouldn't go higher the 15 16" alloys and lower if no more than 30mm.. but i don't know about you lot but i love the car to sit low on 17" wheels.. seeing as cabriolets handle really s**t anyway i'd rather it looked the dogs nuts..
