Guest anthonymcgrath
hi guys I've thought about upgrading my disks on my 3i - its a 130ps so its got them all round but I wouldn't mind getting larger ones on the front (and back) if possible. I've found a few tutorials on this site but I think they're mk3/4 related - I used to own one of them and did a conversion on it a while back but I dont know if the mk5 would be the same? can anyone vouch for this or do I need to look about further? I found a front cosworth caliper/disk conversion on another thread (cossieclint I think) and that just required a bracket kit which the chap was selling I think which I'm happy to do but again its the whole 'will it work on mk5' stuff :/ any info anyone can give me on the mark5 conversion would be great. alternatively - good recommendations on uprated disks and pads as I feel a little lost with this car :/ ta ant newcastle
Guest anthonymcgrath
burton powers website is the coolest I've found - its one of those few sites that pulls up products that will fit your car haha! Anyhow - 155quid for a pair of red dot 20 groove discs - does that sound like a good deal and can anyone recommend them at all? It would basically be 310quid for front and back I also plan on getting red dot front brake pads - 80quid and rear cos 40quid braided steek brake pipe kit is 53quid so I'm looking at a total of 483quid for a full red dot brake setup and braided lines. dont know about bigger disk conversion (ie: cosworth replacements) - can anyone elaborate on that? Guest steveallblue
im not 100% but i think focus st170 discs and calipers will bolt straight on. i paid £150 for the set up from a ford breakers when i had my fiesta. its worth looking at cause they have 300mm discs so it gives some good stopping power
Guest anthonymcgrath
thanks for the advice steve but I think I'm gonna do this wilwood conversion which I've linked to below http://www.feoc-uk.com/modules.php?name=Ne...=article&sid=70 only a coupla small questions. I have rear disk with it being the 130ps mk5 - can I get the same big disk conversion for the rear too? If I'm gonna get 16's or 17's I may as well do front and back for the right look.
