Ash88 Posted July 22, 2019 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Hi my mk 5 escort xr3i is having some ignition problems. When I turn the key in the ignition all powers up as it should do. But just doesn’t turn over. If I connect the positive and negative with a spanner on the starter motor turns over and the car starts. When i turn it off sometime the it starts back up with the key and sometimes it doesn’t. Paul Grainger Posted July 23, 2019 Share Posted July 23, 2019 Hi Ash. There are a few known problems which it could be. First I would check the output from the switch when it faults. If that's ok then bypass the imobiliser on the security ECU. These play up from time to time. Failing that it could be the fusebox.
