Seriously Rotten, persevere or admit defeat?

Hi

This is a 1989 XR3i Cabriolet I have just acquired. It's got rot everywhere (nothing that can't be sorted, mainly cosmetic) but this is the worst of it, it's like this on both sides and it's worrying me.

Has anyone every had one this bad?  Should I persevere with this resto project, or should I put it out of it's misery before I invest more time and money into it.

Looking forward to your opinions.

Just started one similar, biggest problem with sills inner and outer you can buy repair panels so have to fabricate own. It’s important that the cabriolet has strong metal as it has no roof. This is the second one I have done and if we weld sections in to make strong I then fit a body kit to cover it.

Good luck with yours.

I won't waste my time looking for repair panels in that case.

I guess as this is a personal mission of a job rather than a quick turnaround for profit, it's going to be worth the extra time to fabricate those panels. Fortunately I have access to the right skills and equipment for that.

Many thanks, I appreciate your help.

The centre section of the sill is important,if you look inside there is a box section in line with the roof bar, that’s where it needs to be solid. Good luck fella.
