Rodney
My oval Ford badge on the boot has embossed lettering as seems to be normal on a cabby. I need a replacement as all the background paint has come off but all suppliers deny there was such a badge and want to fob me off with a smooth plastic one. Anyone any ideas please or I shall have to try and hand paint around the lettering? Thanks

Rodney
Picture of my Cabby Mk6 boot badge. I've just had a thought, looking at it in detail again today, and I wonder is it that the plastic cover has dropped off hence why the paint is coming off so quickly now? It would explain why it seems a mystery to everyone I ask! Possibly a plastic cover clipped or was glued into the groove near the outer edge. However I have seen two others the same. Any thoughts much appreciated please. (Sorry it is heavily cropped but I don't know how to reduce file sizes so cropped it to within the allowed limit for this message!) RScab
Hard to see tbh but there is a gap around the outer edge so it's possible the cover may have come off
Vincygav
looks like plastic has come off
Rodney
Hi Yes that penny suddenly dropped for me shortly after my last post. I then checked back on a picture I took a couple of years back and when enlarging I could see a) there was a small hole centre bottom of what was obviously plastic and b) that the light reflection across the badge was even whereas it would have been distorted had it been just an embossed badge. The base plate behind the plastic is of course embossed and initially was as shiny as the chrome surround but the centre has now tarnished showing that it has only recently been exposed. I have now purchased a replacement after being baffled for a couple of years! Thank you for coming back to me , you and the previous commenter (sorry but Iv'e only just seen that one RScab) are in fact the first folk to have made this suggestion including main dealer and specialist badge suppliers. Cheers Rodney
