Lovejoy
Hi all, I've finally started work on my mums XR3I Cabriolet. Mum got the car in '98 and only used it on nice days, then unfortunately someone tried breaking into the car in '01, luckily they couldnt get in, but mum got paranoid and took it off the road. Its been in dry storage since then, its only covered just under 43k. The plan was to get it back on the road and for my mum to use it but shes not interested anymore so it might be for sale, but the more I look at it and do things to it I'd like to keep it myself Heres a few pics, Untitled by Steve Holden, on Flickr Untitled by Steve Holden, on Flickr Untitled by Steve Holden, on Flickr Untitled by Steve Holden, on Flickr Untitled by Steve Holden, on Flickr Untitled by Steve Holden, on Flickr So far Ive given it a good clean, the interior ha come up great, it still needs a good polish, but there are a few stone chips/scratches at the front that need addressing, I've been trying to find some paint but I dont know what the colour is called? On the data plate it states PA9 but when I search for this I cant find it? Does anyone know what the colour is called? I've removed the passenger door lock that was damaged and hopefully today I'll receive a new lock from a guy on ebay who supplies locks to the spare key you provide. The metal plate inside the 90 spec sill trim on the drivers side has rotted, luckily the actual sill on the car is in great condition, as I've been unable to find any 90 spec trims I'm planning to remake the plate as the actual plastic cover is still in good condition. Also Im still searching for a pair of Carello 640 spot lights that arnt too expensive! Its booked in for a service and cambelt change and then hopefully get it mot'd
Ian71
Looks a really nice car, well worth the effort to keep it original. Ford fitted other front spots as well as Carello , I am told by couple of members you can still buy them from mini as they were the same as fitted to Mini Cooper of the same era, at last time of asking I believe they were 120 a pair. There not cheap if you need them Yes I managed to get some a few months ago for £41, I was pleased with that I went to see the car last night, the garage has done the cambelt, replaced the water pump, and replaced a few brake hoses. They've got a few more things to do but they're working on it between other jobs. Its getting there
RScab
The only Mod's I'd do to this is Fit The Corello Front Spot Lights add a set of Recaro front Seats and Fit the RS Four Spoke Steering Wheel That would be Spot on then I'd Keep the old bits to return it back the way it was if required

I think it'll be staying stock for now, I'm guessing the bill from the garage is going going to be quite big! Cheers

Lovejoy
Its mot'd and back. I've moved house in the time its been away, I still need to sort out the 90 spec sill cover on the drivers side, it also needs a new battery which I'll get this week. Im not happy with the new front number plate, so need to order one in the original older style font, it needs detailing too but apart from that its pretty much ready to be used, just in time for autumn! Lovejoy
I finally got the sill cover sorted, the plastic cover was still in good condition so i got a piece of galvanised steel cut to shape and glued it to cover and got it fitted. The car has now been sold and should be getting picked up this week. If I had the space I would have loved to have kept it but its going to a good home, it had been in my family for 21 years, I hope it stays with the next owner for a long time.
