I am in the exact dilemma to you. I want to keep it original as possible. but the vinyl roof is the thing I am struggling with. I really want a mohair roof which is superior so I may go with a coloured roof! The white mohair roof I am told is not manufactured! I am also thinking should I put a power roof in or leave it as factory standard. I just know that there will be issues insourcing parts should I go down the electric, roof lane! I had to pay £150 for an electronic dipstick. I am paying Ferrari Prices for a Ford!

The white vinyl is not the best. I had a sample from Car Hoods Northern which lay in the drawer and not exposed to any enviromental pollutants or cleaning and washing and it has gone from white to  the likes of 70 year old  who loves curry, laden with turmeric nicotine and red wine,  teeth enamel already. I know white mohair is not available anywear. For my white 85 cabby All White -I 750 S.E   I am going to place a burgudy mohair. Aldridge trimmers is just over £1000 for outer skin and a bloke in Nottingham wants £550. they say it will take all day so you may want to factor into the price a hotel stay, travel to and from. The trouble is no one has uploded any pics of how before and after. I have seen several hoods which have been horrendous, by Soft Tops, Car Hood Northern, and some have simply not even got back to me. I even contacted Autoglymm guy at various car shows, and the geezer said to me why are you wasting your money on a Ford Escort Hair dressers car, just throw petrol on it and set it a light. When you have a high end Marque come and talk to me. Hence I will never buy Autoglym again.

White roofs are a problem, had mine done 3 years ago and it’s nightmare to try and keep clean. The old one had been on for 20 years, no rips but dirty, I even tried bleaching it lol !
