Mk5B Window Repair

They normally crop up on ebay, although it is usually the regulator and motor all in one sold.

It is always those last two teeth worn out due to the top of the window pressing against the door frame when opening and closing the door. Other newer cars get around this by lowering the window a bit when the door is opened and only goes up around 2 seconds after it is closed.

Having problems locating a widow regulator, the half moon cog has 2 broken teeth. Only part I have located is in the USA £150 to buy and import.

This week going to try and weld on 2 new teeth. Will keep you posted if successful.

Keith

100% successful, repaired a total of 8 teeth with a MIG welder ground down and harden, refitted and now working, will post a pic once I have sorted out photobucket

Hi Keith - driver side window regulator - scissor design - unable to get a replacement for love or money, is it fixable? at present it will only push the window up on one edge as the runner plastic pieces have broken, any ideas please?
