Guest Rooyan
Hi, since ive owned my xr3i i have had an oil leak. never been sorted and tried numerous things. at first it was the oil sump plug so we changed that and it stopped for a few days , then it came back and it was leaking from around the breather filter / crankcase oil pot thing ha so i brought a new one just a basic CHV one .. which lasted about 1 week and then split open as it was only £5 so i brought a brand new one which was £25 and it is always clogged full of oil and pushing it out of everything possible. it is even pushing it down the pipes that go to the airbox and has made a hole in the bottom of the airbox which now leaks all over the place, is this normal? the only place the oil can be coming from is the engine? but should this much oil be coming from there thanks
welshlad
def not normal have you tried a engine flush and new oil/filter etc ? sounds like a blockage somewere so the oil isnt circulating properly around the engine etc, mine drips oil but its from the gearbox side so obv a drive shaft seal and cba doing it lol

welshlad
good point lenny, too much oil would push more through the breather pipes etc
escortrs2000.co.uk
Sounds to me like one of the crankcase breather hoses is blocked and it's forcing oil out of the rocker cover. Check the breather hose from the rocker cover to the block isn't blocked (right hand side as you look at the engine). Lee
