Guest Tom Elliott
hi all first of new to the forum .... hello right basically I have a 91 xr3i running efi setup , my big end bearings have recently gone and now have a excuse to fit a turbo lump in , been searching these forum and many other but can only find snippets of info but no list as such for what would be needed to convert efi to rst efi , what I've found so far for a fiesta lump is that i'll need either a OFAB or OFAC ecu and depending on the ecu I only have to change a couple of pins around , map sensor from fiesta and also a air charge sensor . is this all is needed ? will fueling be sufficient with the xr3i efi ? also cooling wise is the xr3i up to the job ? thanks all
escortrs2000.co.uk
Hello Mate, take a look here: http://passionford.com/forum/ford-escort-rs-turbo/293875-what-do-i-need-to-convert-my-mfi-rs-turbo-to-run-efi-updated-17-07-2013-a.html It's a "How to" I wrote for converting an MFi RS Turbo to EFi. What sort of power are you after? If you're not planning anything over 200BHP then I would go for the OFAC ECU. For a "Standard" setup you'll need: OFAC ECU OFAC MAP sensor (Part Number: V90FB 9F479 AA) Fiesta RS Turbo bottom end Fiesta RS Turbo camshaft Fiesta RS Turbo ACT Sensor Fiesta RST T2 Turbo Exhaust System And you're off! Everything else is already on your XR3i There should be no changes to a late XR3i EFi loom (like mine). With some earlier EFi looms you will need to check the that the CO signal wire goes to pin 27 of the ECU and the MAP signal wire goes to pin 45 of the ECU. Guest Tom Elliott
and looking to run a standard set up really not looking for lots of power , just a little bit extra really with turbo noises ha ha , will I have to change injectors by any chance or will they provide sufficient fueling ? also is there any difference in the radiators ? thanks again
escortrs2000.co.uk
Damn it I knew I'd miss something! You will need an intercooler and rad combo from an Escort RS Turbo. Standard injectors on a Fiesta RS Turbo and XR3i EFi are the same. Coming to think about it, you'll need a charge carrier, suitable rocker cover and boost pipes too. Guest Tom Elliott
excellent mate , does it have to be a fiesta engine or could I use a escort engine with fiesta management ?
escortrs2000.co.uk
You can use an Escort engine with Fiesta management, that's what I did. But that's where it would start getting expensive. If you use an Escort engine you will need some kind of crank position pickup. You could either drill the block and use a Fiesta flywheel or you could make a pulley from a Sierra CVH fit like I did, but the costs will add up either way. If I were starting with a clean slate, I'd use a Fiesta Engine. Lee
