That's what I was thinking, can't really go wrong for £20 can you.

I've just picked up a set of Borbet A's for it too. They need a refurb, and they're badly sprayed. But I reckon once I get them sorted out they'll look amazing on there. I'm going to have a bash at refurbing them myself.

They're 16x7.5 all round with a 53mm dish. ET30

Well you've just convinced me I could be a bit colour blind mate. My Mrs has been saying these are green but I was convinced they're black.

So cheers for proving her right.

But the wheels,

I'm super happy with them. I wanted something pretty much era specific rather than a modern set of wheels, I think they'll suit the car better.

When they're done I'm either going with gloss black centres with polished rim, or matte black centres with a high gloss black rim.

But all polished do look amazing.

Well, just a small update. I haven't had the time to do a lot recently.

Managed to change the ridiculous poorly fitting DTM for a stainless Scorpion box. It didn't go on too easily though as it looked like the middle pipe had been cut down for the last backbox so I cut a section from the old one to make an extension sleeve.

20140307_124423_zpsb0meozuk.jpg

It isn't the prettiest, but it'll do until I can afford a new full stainless system.

20140307_133201_zpswktrg6a1.jpg

But here's before and after photo's. The new backbox looks 110% better.

Before

After

20140307_135255_zpsacovnacs.jpg

I also chucked on a set of Borbet A 16x7.5 to see how they'd look. It's still jacked up but you get the idea.

20140307_143443_zps0bq80kol.jpg

20140307_143434_zpszofbmyrj.jpg

I'm going to quickly paint one of them black and fit a 195/40 and a 195/45 and see how it sits on them as the rim was very close to the suspension strut. I'd say about 8mm away from it. I might have to use spacers but then I'm sure I'll run into arch clearance issues. Ignore the state of the wheels, they're going away to be refurbished eventually.

Next up is a full service as it's running like crap, it's definitely going to take me longer than I first thought to get it all sorted out.

Cheers mate. The DTM thing was ridiculous and sounded terrible. The Scorpion sounds much better.

Bodyworkwise it's going to be staying more or less standard. The only thing I want to do is find an RS500 style splitter, and once all the other jobs are done it'll be going in for a full respray in the original Ford Radiant Red.

It's going to have a full new suspension set up too as soon as I can afford it as the standard shocks are well past their best now.

But first on my shopping list is,

New radiator

Pads and discs

Cam belt

Plugs and leads

New gaskets

Oil filler cap (the original one blew off when I started it yesterday)

Oil and fuel filter

Full fluid change

Clutch and cable

and pretty much anything else needed for a full service

I realised it needed a lot more work than I first thought yesterday, but I'm looking on the bright side. At least everything will be sorted properly before it goes back on the road.

Cheers fellas. I'm going to getting underneath and having a go at cleaning the engine bay up this weekend, weather permitting that is.

Have any of you had any experience with the Sportex exhaust systems?

They're reasonably priced so I'm thinking of ordering one but want to know what they're like first.

Ive got a sportex back box on mine and it sounds ok, not sure what power gain im getting as the rest of it up unitll the down pipe is a scorpion system i think

yeah rs turbo pipe is half an inch bigger bore, if he says its off a 3i then should be fine, will look alot better mate, and a bargain too!

ive got a scorpion back box in my garage that was on my two tone it must be a RST version as it def looks too big to be for a 3i, tried selling it the other day on a facebook group near me but no one wanted it - only wanted £15 too

Cheers mate. Sounds a million times better too.

The wheels will look great when they're refurbed, powdercoated gloss black and wearing 195/45/R16 Toyo T1r's.

I've got a lot of plans for it, it's just having the time and funds to get it all done.

Just a small update today.

I started stripping the old paint and other crap off the Borbet's and discovered what a pain in the arse it actually is.

20140319_134654_zps0bd24380.jpg

So I got fed up of it and took them to a local bodyshop where they acid dipped them for me.

1939441_10152288145878094_2008324067_n_z

They look a hell of a lot better already, and they're booked back in there next month for a full refurb, gloss black paint and have Toyo T1R 195//40/R16 rubber fitted to them.

I also started cleaning the bay, got the rocker and cambelt covers off ready to clean and have powdercoatred.

20140319_131725_zpse5b7efb1.jpg

As you can see, the rocker cover needs quite a bit of cleaning!

Well that's all for now, I'll have more updates on this soon.

Just a small update as I've been working away a lot which means slow progress on the car.

I got my Borbets back from the shop, fully refurbished and painted.

IMG_4995_zps38571137.jpg

Ordered a set of Toyo T1R 195/40/R16 for them too.

More updates are coming soon.

Cheers mate, I'm over the moon with how they came out.

The car will look great when it's all finished, I've been having a chat with my bodyshop about a few subtle bodywork modifications I want to do too. But I have a lot of work before I get to that stage!

Another small update.

Bought tyres and had them fitted.

16x7.5 and 195/40/16 T1R's.

I'll get them fitted at the weekend along with a few other bits done, and get some decent photos of how she's looking.

Cheers mate. Another small update.

Test fitted one of the wheels today, and in my opinion I think it looks amazing! Super happy with them.

I'd of done all four but it was raining and didn't want to pull her out of the garage.

It'll sit a lot lower once the new suspoension set up is on there too.

Seeing as the sun came out I went back to the garage to do a few jobs and fit the rest of the wheels, pulled her out and got a few photos.

I'm over the moon with how the wheels look now they're on the car, and a 30mm drop will see her sitting pretty.

More updates when new parts come in the post.

That's what I reckon. I'm going to order Gmax 30mm drop in the next couple of weeks.

I was going for Koni's but the Gmax are a lot cheaper, and they'll do for the time being with a full Powerflex bush set.

Went and put the engine back together with Roose Motorsport silicone coolant hoses, cleaned up timing belt cover and header tank.(boiling water, washing powder, pea gravel and a good shake worked wonders) and a freshly painted rocker cover.

I'm just waiting for a new battery and K&N induction kit to arrive and it'll be up and running again.

Also got mew brakes and pads on the way, nothing special yet as the plan is just to get it through it's MOT next month hopefully.

From here.

This weekend, the Mrs and I are going to give it a proper clean up inside and out.

I'm on the lookout for suspension too, so if anyone has anything for sale let me know.

Also, if anyone has managed to rebuild their saggy doorcards can you give me a few tips on how you did it?

Well, finally running. I was over the moon when it started up yesterday.

Just a couple of photos.

You can see the damage to the wing on this one. It'll be sorted out once it's back on the road.

DSC_0365_zpsb901bf4e.jpg

And a couple of quick videos of how it sounds. There's no airbox on at the moment and the exhaust is slightly rattly too.

Few new bits arrived in the post today, and Yodel actually delivered something when they're supposed to! Which is always a nice surprise.
