I recently bought this back from my Brother in law after regretfully having to sell it. He's had it sat in an ivy infested garage for the last two years, so when he messaged me asking if I wanted it back I jumped at the chance.

As you can she, she needs a good clean.

She's currently SORN till I get her all cleaned up.

The bodywork, apart from a dent on the nearside front wing is really good. It's just absolutely filthy, so this weekend when I have some free time I'm going to spend giving it the mother of all washes.

This is the dent which I'm going to get repaired soon.

The plans for it are to keep the bodywork more or less standard, a respray in the original Radiant Red, replace the ugly DTM exhaust with a new full system, replace the brakes, and the suspension with a set of coilovers, and throw a set of RS7 diamond cuts on there when I can afford a pair, revive the interior, the doorcards are saggy and it needs a good clean.

The engine bay isn't too bad either, but it will be cleaned and tarted up in time.

Basically aside from needing a thorough cleaning, which she's getting this weekend and the wing sorting out she's in remarkable condition. Not a spot of rust anywhere. When I had the roof replaced for the one mohair one thats currently on it the fella that did it remarked on how clean it was and that it was possibly built in Germany, I don't know how true this is though.

Anyway, there is a lot in store for her but it may be pretty slow progress due to financial constraints.

Hope you enjoy the photos, (sorry for the size, photobucket wouldn't resize them?) and I'll update with some better ones when I've cleaned her at the weekend.

Cheers mate, it's appreciated. I'll definitely be asking for help with a lot of stuff as it will be my first ever project.

The fishing isn't too bad down this way apparently, never been into it myself but I have mates that spend most of their time under an umbrella on the beach or stood on the end of the pier.

Does look solid mate , all mk3 and mk4 were built in Germany , that is why they lasted more than the other

Escorts as the Germans ( Karmann )used better steel. your chassis number should start with WFOL that is German built.

Well I went and gave her a clean yesterday, a lack of a water source meant I had to use a waterless car wash spray.

Took a few photos when she was looking a bit cleaner.

I didn't get round to giving the interior the proper clean it needs, but I'll be getting on that one evening this week.

The seats and door cards need a bit of a refreshing, the doorcards are both saggy so I'm looking for somewhere that can repair them.

The progress on her will be a little slow, money troubles are a pain in the arse. But I will get there.

You definitely will do Ian, we're hoping to have her more or less sorted for the summer.

We're looking forward to the show season and meeting you all.

I couldn't believe how well it worked to be honest, sprayed it on, left it for 10 seconds and wiped off with a microfibre cloth. All the crap on it just came straight off.

This is the one I used.

You'll definitely need more than the one cloth they provide in the box though.

Cheers Pete, I'll definitely be getting to a few shows over the summer, once I've got the car all sorted hopefully.

The plates will be changed back to the originals soon with any luck.

Cheers fellas. I'm going to getting underneath and having a go at cleaning the engine bay up this weekend, weather permitting that is.

Have any of you had any experience with the Sportex exhaust systems?

They're reasonably priced so I'm thinking of ordering one but want to know what they're like first.

Just seen that one mate, unfortunately it's miles away from me up in Worksop.

I'd spend more in fuel going to collect it than buying a new one.

Cheers for the heads up though.

I'm watching a Scorpion backbox at the moment that's not far from me at all.

Just won a Scorpion backbox on eBay for £20. Happy with that. Collecting it on Monday.

Bit of a clean and it'll be perfect. Much better than the daft looking, doesn't fit properly Peco DTM that's on there at the moment.

That's what I thought mate, so I messaged him and he said it came off a mk4 xr3i so it had better fit.

RS Turbo's have a larger diameter exhaust don't they?

If it doesn't he doesn't live too far away so I'll either be taking it back to him, or just selling it on.
