Guest xr3imanielad Posted April 8, 2013 Share Posted April 8, 2013 Is there any who can give me some good advice I have a 1989 xr3i cabby engine rebuilt 18thou ago all tho alternator belt went and the engine cut out and would not start back had mecanic out and he said it bent my valves.. would it be better to just change top end or does any 1 have one for sale in west midlands area many thanks Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Vincygav Posted April 9, 2013 Share Posted April 9, 2013 Or do you mean the timing belt went. The alternator belt shouldnt lead to bent valves. If its the timing belt, you can get away with changing the valves or an exchange cylinder head. gingergman Posted April 9, 2013 Share Posted April 9, 2013 It would of bent a few valves after the pistons smashing into them, if you was going fast id say its fooked. My friends escort van belt snapped last year, at idle speed and I was amazed he got away with a new belt.
