Wheels Don't Fit

As title bought a set of 14 inch wheels ford steelys and they don't fit over the calipers on the front brakes is this normal for a cabriolet or has the braking system been modified ???

You say they're Ford Steelies but are they ESCORT steelies. They could be off something with a different offset maybe. Sierra? Granada? Cortina?

they came from a scrap yard they have ford stamped on them and the stud patten look the same and there all 14 inch here pics of brakes.

Calipers look like 4x4 Cosworth ones possibly. Measure the disc, I suspect it will be 283mm in diameter. IF so, you need 15" wheels to clear them, so Mondeo would be most likely.

Either way you know 14's wont fit so get some 15's. Those look like series 2 rs turbo calipers and disks which are 260mm. rs turbos came with 15 inch alloy as standard if i remember right.

14" wheels fit over RS Turbo brakes as Sierra and Granada DOHC and V6 models had 260mm calipers and discs as well whilst running 14" alloys.

 

I have checked a spare pair of 4x4 Cosworth calipers I have and they look identical. Would definitely check the disc diameter and I bet they are 283mm.

Hi guys yeah I just thought it was a bit strange I've got some 15s on now.

Will measure brakes at some point.

they are deffo sierra calipers as i have fiited some and had the same issue with the wheels as my spare wheel would then not fit over the front caliper and disc

looking more at the wheel dont think its a mondeo, escort or seirra wheel tbh ..... most of the ford wheels have round holes not oval ....

 

yes rs turbo came with 15" alloys as standard
