Hi M8..

Prior to forking out your hard earned DOSH.... have a read of the "ZETEC TUNNING GUIDE" that I found a few days ago on TALKFORD forum..

Its a cracking write up and will probably give you a starter for 10..........its given me a few good ideas.....its on..

cant click on that link. is the where u replace the engine with a 2.0 one

No.. its not about changing engines... its what you can do to each and all of the ZETEC range...from the 1600 90ps throug to the 2000 135ps.

If you can't CLICK on ,then copy the site ref and re-enter.......Also ,have a look at Kent Cams site.... www.akamoto.co.uk

very interesting ,may well lookinto this form of extra power myself ...might be good for occasional use !! and a laugh!!

At the moment im looking into putting a 2.0 silvertop into a mk4 escort cab and after all the reading ive done it sounds one of the best options, what I know so far its seems pretty easy im still abit hazy with the wiring but going off what I have read there is around 8 wires that need connecting from the monde engine loom to the cars main loom people that have efi stick with the efi loom ecu and management but I would stick with the 2.0 mondy throttle body,130bhp inlet, focus 2lt injectors, mondy 2.0 ecu, once done you have a base of around 135-140 bhp and in the futre you can go as far as the money in your pocket if you want my brutal answer don't waste your money on the cvh,it would cost quite alot to get it to 140bhp,when i had my efi I was gonna geta high lift cam,FPR,chipped exhaust and filter with what it would of cost at the time I could of bought an rs turbo

Hi mate me i would use a zetec 2l silvertop & ecu, throttle body from the 2l,engine part of loom,1.8 130 intake manifold, sump and waterpump and flywheel, keep cvh gearbox and maybe use rst clutch or standard 3i modify one cvh mount and a mixture of parts from the 2 ie cvh alternator and bracket with zetec ribbed pulley rs1800 fan belt have heard there is only 8 wires have a read of this

http://passionford.com/forum/pictures-video-and-photoshop-forum/246237-cvh-to-zetec-conversion-for-under-200-quid-guide.html

there is also fords saftey system called PATS which i dont think are on early mondeos, fiest and escorts but if you do get a PATS loom you should be able to stick it in the mk4 whith the original key easiest way would be mk5 1.8 as not pats no changing parts but only similar power unless you get a 130 ps which would be best

I think the very early mondeo has no PATS but as long as its a silver top its ment to be easy if you have a look on google you will find everything I have but in my thread are the questions im after then I will know for sure

wat does pats mean cheers

Pats is the imobilizer in newer fords, usually a blue/red chip in the key. Silver top engines are in the mk1 mondeos so L reg upto maybe P reg

you can turbo it which would be easy just find a complete engine with the turbo and all you need is the engine bay loom as it can be connected at the fuse box ive just done mine but i had alot more work to do as mine was a efi i had to change the hole lot even the feul tankand fuel pipes you dont have to do that just engine and loom

Im SHOCKED that this question gets asked time and time again does anyone never bother to use the search bar any more? the fact that there is so much capabilities ranging from stroking the engine to cosworth transplant! where have these people been hiding? the 1.6 mfi is basic but bullet proof, they get quicker by cam'ing them either piper 285 or kent cam' or cat cam' depends what your looking for as in tuning,a fast road mild 270' would give you more acceleration in the rev range between 1500rpm and 6500 rpm the ultimate 285 is from 2500 to 7000rpm, a wild rally between 4000rpm and 8000rpm, but then you need solit lifters etc etc but as with any engine there is no limit, the limit is the £££££ the american 1900 cvh was always a popular conversion, along with a big valve head and uprated cam, some producing 140+ bhp or there is the rs turbo conversion route where is just a swap everything over route and choose mfi, or efi your choice! then theres the zvh route invented by jim hearne ( jimhearne.co.uk/zvh.htm ) this clever and very generous guy passed his knowledge and step by step instructions on to fitting the zetec bottom end onto the cvh head! a very good conversion, meaning you keep your loom's , manifolds etc etc then theres full zetec conversions or rs2000 redtop engines ( never really liked these tbh) then theres the st170 conversion then ive seen a few c20xe vauxhall redtops running rwd in these then cosworth conversion there are companies like jamsport and oddkidcreations that love this kind of creations and projects, oddkidcreations had a 400hp cvh turbo! now its up to you what you want in your bay!
