Guest Malcolm mcknight
Classic car services thurmaston leicester. I have just had my mk5 cabrio's hood recovered there. I had a missalignment problem before I went there and so it was arranged that the hood mechanisum would be checked and any adjustments would be carried out prior to fitting the new hood cover. When I phoned up prior I asked about the alignment only to be told that they had not done anything about this. When I picked up my car the hood did not close properly and the misalignment issues were still evedent. the seals around the windows were badlly fitted. When this was pointed out they denied that they had agreed to do this work and became very agressive at one point they said they would remove the hood and leave the car with a bare hood frame. Under protest I had to pay up (it cost £517) to get my car back. They had by this time tryed to cover there tracks by writing on the bill that it needed to hood frame adjustments. I took my car home and apon inspection I found that the inner hood had not been reatached to the hood frame by the rear window. on a journey a couple of days later the rear window blew out of the hood frame. Lucily it did not blow our fully so did not damage my new paint work. So i have reported them to trading standards So whatever you do do not take your car to CLASSIC CAR SERVICES in Thurmaston Leicester. Does anybody know of a good repairer near Leicester that can look at my car.

Guest Malcolm mcknight
No it gets worse. Since I got my cabrio back I have had the hood inspected by a local garage I trust, only to be told that the hood frame is twisted and from accident damage, not the car. The car was coverted to electric hood 2 years ago by the previous owner after it was broken in to by slashing the roof. So am a bit pee'd off as it was not spotted when they removed the hood. If they had I would have supplied the original hood frame as I have it. Worse still is the hood has been down a total of 2 times since getting it back and guess what the the rivets have pulled out of the frame and the hood is now starting to come away from the frame also spotted during the inspection was the fact that the tension wires were not fitted when the hood was recovered so it is stating to go baggey above the windows on the passenger side. So does anybody know of a good place to get the hood repaired as I dont trust the people that did the recovering.
Guest KarlosG
Thats really bad mate! If you have another frame just swap it over yourself, and fit two new side tension cables, it's really easy as the hole for the rear windwow has already been cut which is the hardest bit. Guest Malcolm mcknight
Finally got to hubbards upholstery. It needs a new roof fitting. B%@?$r thats another £500 i cant afford. The rear window is in the wrong place (too high) So I need the measurment from the bottom of the rear window to the top of seal on the rear body work of the car so that the window can be set in the right place. All guys and gals out there with a mk5 or 6 cabby could you measure and post the height. Would be most grateful many thanks Malcolm
