I've found out what the oil should be by looking on jaguar forums as the pump in a old XK is the same the oil used should be Pentosin CHF 11S

Hello,

Yesterday I posted this question but I've just come across your comment from 10 years ago, do you think the same would work for me? Thank you.

I have a 1987 Escort Cabriolet Ghia which needs me top up the transmission fluid for the electric roof to operate. The manual tells me I need to use part number 1661100 however that part number no longer exists, and Ford's parts department cannot suggest any other fluid I can use instead. Does anyone have any idea what I can use instead? Sorry this is the 2nd time for me to post this question but I cannot find my original question on ths site...

It is in the Haynes, sure it has been posted here many times before and able to find by doing search. IIRC It was Esso UNIV or some similar name. Other alternatives are from Morris oils and Millers Oils.

It is green and a Citreon type fluid. I would not use other fluids mentioned above as they can damage some seals or encourage erosion of some internal parts.
