Guest David
Hiya, Does anyone know if they make and who has got any if they do 30mm drop springs, got 40mm on at mo, but front drivers side has broke and to be fair fed up of having to drive like a snail over speed humps as with only to in it catches. If cant get bigger spring might try and get some stock ones ok it will look sh*t but atleast wont be wrecking the stainless exhaust. Also are cabriolet springs different to normal escorts. Many thanks. David
Escort Cabriolet Club
The springs are not different, the Suspention is identical to the Tin Top Escorts but the car reacts differently due to the extra weight and chassie flex, the Mk5/Mk6 don't realy like lowering springs much, MarkeyBoy and a few other removed there lowering kits and went back to standard because of this !!! MarkeyBoy has recently fitted Coilovers and this has proven to suit the Cab better due to the stiffer support they give to counteract the cornering flex of the chassie, they were VERY cheap to, when he gets a chance he will prob list the seller off ebay !!! Not many places list mk6 cabriolet springs? Charlzey you recon they are the same as a normal/saloon escort? David
Guest David
Just been on phone to 3 different company's they recon mk6 cabriolet springs look and fit the same but are made stronger as cabby is heavy. David
Escort Cabriolet Club
Well i'm having trouble with my brand new rear Monroe shocks as they sit too low, going to go back to the Factory Shocks in the New Year, personaly mate I would avoid lowering springs as the Mk5/Mk6 Cabs a are bigger and heavier than the Mk3/Mk4 Cabs which you can lower as they are like go carts !!! I you have your mind set on lowering springs then go ahead but I would save your money !!!
Guest markeyboy
iirc potn.com have cabby springs, they are about 20 more than the saloon ones, it may be worth having a look on there
Guest David
Thanks seen them, i think now that maybe the ones i got on cab might have been sold to me for the wrong car ie a saloon escort as spoke to loads of people in the trade and they all say springs shouldnt break after on a couple of thousand miles unless they were faulty. I have now ordered some new springs off a local trade spares supplier, they give a 35mm drop and made for cabriolet hope this sorts problem out they are being fitted wednesday when cab goes in for service and mot
