Mk4 Escort Rear Anti Roll Bar Help Please

hi all im new to this site. ive got a mk4 cab im doing a underside resto. ive just ordered a powerflex rear bush kit and i was told these had a rear anti rollbar fitted. as ive took of my suspension for powdercoating there is no rear anti roll bar fitted. does it have to have one or not cheers all

i didnt know anything bout a rear anti roll bar cant say ive ever seen one on the rear maybe theyve got confussed... rear beam maybe? im polybushing my zetec cab aswell and nah sure theres no anti roll bar

The rear anti-roll bar was used with certain engine specifications I believe.

 

You can fit one, but need the appropriate rear arms. You also need the brackets, inner bushes, outer lever arms, the correct bracket bolts and the insert to stop the rear chassis section from distorting when tightened and the car is in motion.

 

I retro-fitted one to mine. It came from an Escort S1 Turbo, complete with arms, etc...

 

Renmember as well that there is 2 sizes of rollbar, 12mm (everything other than 3-door) and 16mm (3-door models only).

Cor, this thread brings back some memories. I fitted the rear anti-roll bar from a mk4 eEscort shaped Orion to my mk3 Cab. I can't say how much of a difference it made as the car was a wreck when I got it but with all the other mods the cars suspesnion now easily out performs the cabrio shell.
