Cvh Efi To Turbo

Ive converted a few vaux c20xe engines over to turbo and im now going to turbo the engine in the xr3i, i know its probably easier to just change the engine

 

Ive been looking it it today and reading up on the net, and it doesnt look too hard,

 

What bits are the same from the cvh and the cvh turbo engines, i have the efi one ,

 

I have found the turbo and manifold, exhaust, inlet manifold and a spacer plate to make it fit the head

 

The electric bits im thinking to use a megasquirt ecu, i have one that drives a coilpack from one of my c20xe`s

 

Does the engine already have a lambda and airflow meter anywere or dos it just guess, i cant find them?

Hi, i have done mine but used a Fiesta RS turbo block and head, the EFI electrics would plug straight in and you would only need to change the ECU / Map sensor / and ACT sensor and swap 2 wires around. I have details from when i did mine.

 

If you are going to use your current set up you would need to pop a hole in the sump for the oil return from the turbo. Also i you use your block and head with the adaptor plate you would only be able to run it a a few PSI, so not worth it. The block and head are different between the turbo and non turbo one.

If you could send me links of this conversion i whould be gratefull.I am thinking to do my 1.4 cvh and thinking to use 1.6 turbo parts. I want to keep expenses as much lower as it can. Is it possible to do it?

hi, i`m new to the site, i have 2 mk5 escort cabriolets, one has a mfi series 2 rs turbo fitted the other has a 1.6 efi cvh, i would like to make one good car out of the 2 of them and i would like it to be an efi rs turbo is this a lot of work and do i have all the parts already to make this happen?

I have a S2 turbo engine if any of you are interested. Was fully rebuilt a few years back and I have just replaced all the seals and belts. plus painted it all up. Its has ported and polished head and piper cam fitted. No longer need it now

If you are EFI already then all you need to do is wire in your megasquirt ECU, drill the block for the turbo oil return, fit exhaust manifold/turbo, and find some low comp pistons from any RST.

No adapter plates needed, no inlet manifold needed, you dont need a AFM (MS uses in built MAP sensor) and no they do not have a lambda.

The block and head are not different between turbo and non turbo, except for the oil return hole in the block, and Series 1 RST had Sodium filled exhuast valves.

 

Turbo'ing the 1.4cvh is a waste of time IMO, just fit a 1.6!

HI All, id love to pick this up again as i have a 90 spec EFI Cabby which im restoring and will be turbo'ing with MS too,

 

Karlos, you seem to be a resident genius on this, as ive seen your posts elsewhere, how did you get on with the MS in the end? i have one i built aaages ago and never got round to fitting to my Series 1, Would you still recommend it?

 

Also, are the Rods and beaings the same as XR? with just a lower comp piston and drilling the block for oil return?
