Guest mk3lesley
Did'nt know where to post this topic but thought this was the nearest forum. Right then my mother has just bought a mk5 cabby with a 1.6 cvh engine with power steering. The question is as follows, has anyone retro fitted power steering on a mk4 or mk3 escort before using the mk5 parts and if so is it an easy swap?. Reason I'm asking is the wife is pregnant, and for all she can still drive my mk4 at the mo in a couple of months this won't be an option due to the weight of the steering, so for the price of some second hand bits thought this might be a good idea. Any help appreciated, cheers.

RobMk4TwinCarb
I have been looking into this, and funnily enough my wife rang a breakers in the afternoon and that very morning they scrapped an orion with power steering, how gutting. Also spoke to a specialist, who said he thought the renault espace rack might fit also, it depends on the length(I think) because you can always make brackets to make it fit.. You will also need a pump, now you can mess around with a pully driven pump and res, or use an electricly driven one, get some high bar pipes made up and bob's your uncle, mk4 with power steering. I will be doing this at some point...unless I find another onion first(yes I meant onion lol).

RobMk4TwinCarb
If you have ABS it'd be nice to know how you get on because I saw somewhere that the ford power steering rack fouled on the modulator, then again his might not of been genuine ford.
