one of the rear tie bars on my mk4 escort snapped this morning and it was quite scary, the wheel now can be pushed from the front to the back of the arch and is really very loose, the scary part is that it snapped when i was doing about 10 miles an hour coming off a round about, about 5 mins after i came off the motorway where i was doing 70++, so i am concidering myself very lucky

anyway the question is, is it just a bolt at either end and as easy to do as it looks and my usual guy cant get them but i've found a pair on good ol' Ebay for £50, doe's this sound about right?

Cheers, Chris

must be a common fault as i snapped 2 on my old mk3 cab, i thought i was just due to age and my driving lol but seems to be getting more common in mk3/4 cars, i got a couple in a scrappy that were in vgc but that was a while ago now, not checked with my supplier for my mk4 yet as im still doing the front but sounds not too bad a price but remember to renew the bushes when doing it as they are only a couple of quid and the are the same ones as the anti roll bar bushes on the track control arms if that helps any

never had this happen yet.....but seeing as you lot have it seems to be a common problem. so is it the polybushes making it worse in some cases tony?
