Hi,

Does anyone know how to tell what a car started it's life as when it was first registered?

I have a 1.6i cabriolet 1985 but I am trying to find out if it used to be an XR3i or just a 1.6i cab.

It has been made to look like an RS turbo by the previous owners and I think the body kit has been added. I want to restore it back to it's original look but need to know what that was before I start pulling of all the stripes etc.

Is there any way of telling? On the Log Book it just says 1.6i.

Thanks

I don't think any MK3 cabbies came with body kits... and if I'm right (correct me if I'm wrong) but the only differences between a 1.6i and an XR3i were either steels or alloy wheels and possibly over riders... and really early MK3's wouldn't have been injection anyway I think.

So if you want to get it back to original, lose the bodykit and decals and fit cloverleafs to it... that's about as far as my knowledge goes, and I could be wrong.
