Guest no2lurch
fitted good condition used grooved and drilled rst brake disks with brand new pads and refurbed calipers. i have bled the system using the 2 man method, but there is loads of travel in the brakes pedal. it dont go all the way down, but nearly all the way, then i get good brakes. the pedal also does not spring back like it used to. the calipers are not leaking, nor are the bleed nipples. i bled all 4 corners too, with the engine off and running, but still the same. the reservoir is topped upnicely too. what can i do? and any other tips, of things i have missed??? Guest no2lurch
to be honest, i didnt bleed in that order. reason being is that i thought that as all 4 corners had a pipes of their own coming out of the master cylinder, it didnt matter. i have not touched the servo or pipes related at all. Guest no2lurch
does having the engine running make any difference?
Admin Paul Posted January 17, 2008 Admin Share Posted January 17, 2008 I had the same problem Neil, and you do need to bleed all corners in that order and this will solve your problems. Bleed with engine off and cap off res. Pump the pedal several times and while holding pedal down get someone to open bleed screw. Do this until all air has gone. Just keep an eye on the res and keep it topped up while doing it. If you have done it right your right leg will be hurting lol

Guest no2lurch
i forgot to ask... do i need to do anything with regards to making sure there is no air in the bias valve thing on the drivers inner wing?
Admin Paul Posted January 18, 2008 Admin Share Posted January 18, 2008 no need to touch bias valve, also throw the easybleed kit in the bin they cause more air to get back into the system then anything.........
Guest no2lurch
right the way caz and i were doing it were: 1-caz in the car with foot ready to depress the brake pedal. 2-me at each corner in turn with wheel removed and rubber pipe over the nipple 3-i say go and caz pushes the brake pedal and i open the nipple 4-caz says 'nearly' when her foot has nearly finished the travel to the floor when i close the nipple 5-caz releases the pedal back to the top 6-repeat as needed checking the reservoir. is that right? somone at my work said points1-3 were right, but then when te pdal is at the floor, hold it there for 5 seconds with the nipple open and the fluid will keep coming out, then close the nbipple and repeat a few times. is that a right/better way of doing it? Admin Paul Posted January 18, 2008 Admin Share Posted January 18, 2008 No get Caz to pump the brakes several times, this will build up pressure in the system. On the 7th time hold pedal down and then undo nipple. Let air escape and then close nipple. Then do it all over again. Paul
