Guest rs-steve
right thought i would ask you all before i go and buy new wheels will a 17" rim fit on my mk4 lowered 60mm and if it will is it gonna rub like buggery or would i be just better off putting 16" alloys on as there a bit harder to get hold off thanks for the help
Guest steelcabby
the one on my siggy was lowered 35-40mm on G-MAX supersport, it had 205/35/17 TSW REFLEXES on it, they didn't rub at all. i think its the suspension brand to be honest. always use G-MAX and never had a problem is all i'm saying. but 60mm is just too low mate and your ruin your car too. :WAITINGemote:

Guest rs-steve
right a pic of mine with standard rs alloys on with 195/50/15 tyres would i get away with 16" rims with the gaps i got left with a 35 profilke tyre Edited December 14, 2007 by rs-steve
Guest steelcabby
you may just get away with it, is your car stiff?? also when you get the bigger wheels, your be getting lower profile tyres anyway. you could get like 205/35/16's put on the new wheels. but if they do rub then your better off getting a full G-MAX supersport kit for you car, that will lower it 35-40mm and the kit is only 180.00 pounds
Guest steelcabby
THIS IS A BETTER PIC WITH THE G-MAX SUPERSPORT AND MY 17" WHEELS THAT DID NOT RUB EVEN WITH A FULL CAR AND THE FRONT INNER ARCHES WHERE STILL ON. THE CARS OUTER ARCHES WHERE ALSO UNTOUCHED WITH NO ROLL WORK DONE ON THEM ETC. DAMN IT I REALLY MISS THAT CAR :icon_cry: Edited December 14, 2007 by steelcabby

Guest steelcabby
i cut out the battery tray and heater panel cos they were starting to go abit, and ended up not having a place to finish it, so i had to get a garage to weld in a new battery tray and heater panel and then respray the engine bay, and then f**ked it up in alot of ways. i then was too upset about it and had to sell it, i am kicking myself, but i spent alot of time getting that car perfect and after that happened it wasn't worth me bovering anymore, so sold it for 2400

Guest Brutus
if you have 17's with a 40mm offset and 205 x 40 tyres.........you'll be fine for lowering -

Guest Alanman
This question gets asked more times. lol. There's far too many variants to say for definate. Offset and width of wheel, width and profile of tyres, make of suspension, age of suspension, number of people, driving style, the list goes on. I'd say go for it, I think that 17s look the bollox on a escort, its the perfect wheel size but saying that 60mm is f'ing low. Mucho respecto for that. lol. I have gone 35 / 40 before with 17s and had no rubbing, but put a different set of wheels on and they rubbed a little with weight in. So unfortunately you've got to suck it and see. Maybe see if anyone has any old 17s you could try on and ride round block. I'd buy the wheels and if it rubbed I'd higher the suspension to 35 or 40 rather than reduce the wheel size. But that's my opinion. Alanman
Guest steelcabby
if your gonna get 17", just don't go wider than 205/35/17's your wheels dealer should know thw right offset for your car and if he dosen't then shot him....lol but i know you won't get away with a 60mm drop with 17"s, but you may do with 16"s but again just keep it at 205/35/16s on them, i'd get some new bump stops on your front shocks too, when these split or wear out you car will bounce down further when cornering or hiting dips at speed, this will make a mess of your tyres sonny boy...lol hope all these replies help :WAITINGemote:
