I would not recomend 'Giving it a good blast on a runway', I think you should take it to a reputalble Garage and tell them the problem, the engine might just need a good service and flush, giving it a 'Blast' might make it worse !!!

Agreed, a nice cheap MOT failure will do, I have seen loads go for £300 with Tax and MOT lol, you get ALL the engine bits you need, plus you may make a little extra coin selling the spares off it too !!!
