    89 Tennis

A couple of years ago I fancied a toy, had a budget of £500, it had to be fun, and cheap to insure. I did a quote on lots of 80's era cars and the Escort Cabriolet in general came out at just over £100 fc, winner. So I set about looking for one within budget, wasnt too fussed if it were a runner had mot or tax, i dont mind getting my hands dirty. It could even be a complete project I wasnt too fussed. The one that caught my eye was bright yellow, I like to stand out, not knowing much about these cars I chatted to the seller, aggreed a price, and off i went to loughborough with trailor in tow. £450 later I came back with "Scabby", my 1989 Tennis. No Tax or mot. Sellers pic. On back of friends car. For the Mot it needed some welding on the sills and thats about it. Was then Insured and put 6 months Tax on it. that was a great 6 months. Some Pics taken once mot'd, taxed and insured.

    Insurance For Youngsters

insurance makes no sense. I regularly hear from my learners of not being able to be quoted less than 3k. there are a few things you can try to lower your quote, but be honest. many of my friends drive highly modified cars, and they get better quotes for listing their mods. another friend did 3 quotes but changed one thing each time he was quoted, where he kept it, in a garage, on the drive and on the road, keeping it on the road was cheapest, how does that work? I recently called my insurance company to change some details, and the lady on the phone said that looks like a nice area, I asked her how she knew and she replied that she was looking at my house on google street view, im guessing to check I do have a garage. adding parents to your policy can make a difference, and which one or indeed both can have different effects. don't be tempted to insure your car in a parents name and go on the policy as a named driver, this is insurance fronting and is fraudulent, you can and will get caught out. black boxes make a difference, curfews are a pain, drive well and you can be rewarded further. limit mileage, but note that mot's are available to view online so don't lie. that's just a few tips I can think of right now.

    89 Tennis

Cant believe what I've done, and also that no one noticed it in the above pics, feel so stupid with this school boy error. I only went and fitted the rear arches on the front and the front arches on the rear, and then cut them. Meaning now that I've realised and swapped them over the correct front arches have been cut too short, rears are salvageable. now the BIG question..... Anyone got a spare pair of S1 front arches they would part company with??

Nightmare. So Engine in and running (just) after endless cups of tea between swearing and cursing. Bad news. Turns out ive fitted the inner wings or fitches "low" and as a result when lining up the front panel, welded that on low too. Wings never lined up properly. So back a few steps and the front panel has got to come off and be replaced again but hopefully means everything will square up better than before. Really must get on with taking more pics.

    Mk4 B Piller Vin Number

Noticed at the weekend that my Tennis has these numbers in the same place beneath the white paint.
  18. know of a manual frame no hood in Norwich, don't know about its condition, probably take a few beer tokens for it. I'm not ready to give up my electric one yet until my resto is complete.

plenty of progress today but for some reason the forum tools aren't allowing me to paste img tags from my photobucket so i'll try again tomorrow. both rear 1/4 panels and rear panels have had more filling and sanding, mostly as good as it will get, arches need more attn., but have given it a good coat of etch primer and I'm mighty pleased with the results so far. theres a pic or two over on the clubs fb page.
