  1. Looking a bit different now.
  2. No movement now for over a year.
  3. insurance makes no sense. I regularly hear from my learners of not being able to be quoted less than 3k. there are a few things you can try to lower your quote, but be honest. many of my friends drive highly modified cars, and they get better quotes for listing their mods. another friend did 3 quotes but changed one thing each time he was quoted, where he kept it, in a garage, on the drive and on the road, keeping it on the road was cheapest, how does that work? I recently called my insurance company to change some details, and the lady on the phone said that looks like a nice area, I asked her how she knew and she replied that she was looking at my house on google street view, im guessing to check I do have a garage. adding parents to your policy can make a difference, and which one or indeed both can have different effects. don't be tempted to insure your car in a parents name and go on the policy as a named driver, this is insurance fronting and is fraudulent, you can and will get caught out. black boxes make a difference, curfews are a pain, drive well and you can be rewarded further. limit mileage, but note that mot's are available to view online so don't lie. that's just a few tips I can think of right now.
  4. Theres been a little bit of progress....
  5. found a green one locally and fitted that but thanks for the offer, looked ok in green, but its gone white already along with the door handles and fuel cap. carpet in and rubbers on, locks fitted. snap off wheel fitted. paint has been flat back and polished. pleased with the progress.
  6. anyone have any suggestions where I can get a missing bumper strip from for the front bumper?
  7. decided to repair the arches and they came out really well.
  8. Cant believe what I've done, and also that no one noticed it in the above pics, feel so stupid with this school boy error. I only went and fitted the rear arches on the front and the front arches on the rear, and then cut them. Meaning now that I've realised and swapped them over the correct front arches have been cut too short, rears are salvageable. now the BIG question..... Anyone got a spare pair of S1 front arches they would part company with??
  9. Nightmare. So Engine in and running (just) after endless cups of tea between swearing and cursing. Bad news. Turns out ive fitted the inner wings or fitches "low" and as a result when lining up the front panel, welded that on low too. Wings never lined up properly. So back a few steps and the front panel has got to come off and be replaced again but hopefully means everything will square up better than before. Really must get on with taking more pics.
  10. most of engine and box now in, front shocks replaced dropped 60mm with springs. calipers overhauled fresh seals and painted. turbo is now back from being rebuilt. will try get some pics this weekend.
  11. Little update, been a while and ive been busy.
  12. I really hope so, the finish line is in sight, granted a long way off but I can see it, I know it, but its all the little things. I'll get there!
  13. not a lot gone on recently other than the gold cab has been stripped and cut in two, now most probably coke tins or something. And my garage looks like a bombs gone off with the left overs laying on the floor. 5L of Cellulose Ford Frozen White turned up today :-)

  15. slow progress facebook link
  16. Noticed at the weekend that my Tennis has these numbers in the same place beneath the white paint.
  17. know of a manual frame no hood in Norwich, don't know about its condition, probably take a few beer tokens for it. I'm not ready to give up my electric one yet until my resto is complete.
  18. plenty of progress today but for some reason the forum tools aren't allowing me to paste img tags from my photobucket so i'll try again tomorrow. both rear 1/4 panels and rear panels have had more filling and sanding, mostly as good as it will get, arches need more attn., but have given it a good coat of etch primer and I'm mighty pleased with the results so far. theres a pic or two over on the clubs fb page.
  19. see your pic of this pop up on fb, does it just clip on then?
  20. nice one cheers, looks spot on, glad I took the plunge and got some of the bay, turned up today and offered them up. looks great.
  21. No pics of roof coming off sadly, mostly done by a friend who said he'd done one before, I'm sure theres a tutorial on here somewhere, but I do remember there being a wire to tension it in place? someone should be able to help. progress to date, loads more sanding, bit more sanding, and then some more sanding. I have sourced a genuine S1 arch and skirt kit which will be going on :-)
