Guest VR46565
Hello, I have a mk5, only purchased recently and it seems to get a leak in the passenger footwell near to the seat and close to the door. I'm not sure if this is from rain or water on the roads due to recent bad weather as I normally cover the car. The battery tray area is good with no rot or holes and no obvious signs where it's coming from. Any ideas??
Ian71
If its a door seal , spray the door with a hose to see of water gets through or it could be the roof leaking. put some clean kitchen roll on the inside when you use the hose pipe and it will telll you where its coming from. If its neither of these it must be coming up from the floor, or your radiator under dashboard may be leaking.
Ian71
Check to see if the carpet smells of coolant,if so it may be the rad behind dashboard,or one of the hoses that go to it.
Paul Grainger
Quite common to leak through the door if the membrane behind the door panel is damaged. In can drip between the membrane and the door card and drip over the door seal. Do the hose pipe thing and then open the door and see. Vincygav
I had this last year, it turned out to be the windscreen rubber. It turned out to be the nearside rubber where it started to raise from the screen. I had to put Tiger seal/PU sealant until a permant fix with windscreen change could be achieved.
