Door Hinges Problem

Just bought an 86 Cabby which is my summer toy but found the drivers door just a little catching the wing which is making the door clunky to shut, it looks like the drivers door has caught the wind and bent the hinges outward slightly which has pulled the door forward, I have read somewhere on the forum the hinge pins cannot be removed is that correct as I was going to remove the door by removing the hinge pins and knocking the hinges back into place. any ideas anyone.

Cheers

This an easy job to repair by looks of it, top hinge pin can be removed with tool and knocking the pin downwards, bottom pin cannot be removed but hinge bolts are easy to get to, so Sunday morning bacon buttie and cup of tea and door off,

Put loads of lube on it on the saturday and expect a lot of sweering I would say you need several cups of tea before it's done good luck mark

Yep doing that everday with WD40, not manage to do the job yet as not located tool to knock top pin out, however will ask couple off my car body shop customers if they have one,

Still not done this job, still waiting for hinge pin removal tool to come from UK, loosened the bottom bolts for the hinge and tried to move the hinge backwards to see if this helps but only moved about 1mm so no improvement on the bottom hinge, so loosening the top hinge bolts will make no difference, has anyone drilled out the bottom hinge with door removed and replaced with sleeved nut/bolt, once I get this door off will have to knock hinges back into shape but will help if I get the bottom hinge off.

Cheers

After getting the wrong tool from UK to remove top hinge pin and not been able to get replies from this forum as to where I could find the correct tool to remove the top pin I sat down and thought how am i going to fix this door problem, well the job is now done , this is what I did, folded the roof down open the drivers door fully open managed to wrap a strop(ties downs to secure freight on Trucks ) around the top hinge first and the other end off the strop around wood post in my large garage put the handbrake on tight and tightened the strop with the ratchet wrapped around the wooden post, this actually pulled the bent top hinge back into place did the same with the lower hinge and that worked as well, the gaps between the door and wing is perfect now and door shuts great, however the only problem I have now is when the window is fully up the door does not shut correctly unless I let the window down a 1/4 inch it appears the window is going to high, the door alignment is perfect any ideas if there is a stop that stops the window shutting to high,

Hi There, this is my forst post on this forum and was actually trying to find a poist on removal and refitting of bottom hinge pins but reading your post I think I can offer you some re-assurance that your window too high problem isn't actually a fault, it's like that on all models! when shutting the door from the outside you have to shut the door by placing your hand on the top of the window glass which in turns pushes the glass underneath the ribber seal, from the inside just lower the window slightly then close window after! Moder convertables have an electronic system that automatically lowers and lifts the window slightly when opening and closing!, all best, Jon
