Guest Lee81
Cobra alarms are cheap, last forever and easy to use. There insurance ok too. Clifford have lots of features and work well when setup up correctly though there not easy to use. If you have a wife/girlfriend using your car etc. pressing the wrong buttons can immobilise the car and require a code entry. Thats also complicated to enter. Toad. I have this on my cossie cab. Its prity basic, the remote looks rubbish. It also draws lots of current so if your not using your car much expect to keep having to charge it ever 2-3 weeks. Guest swampy83
Thanks for the info lads looks like it may be the clifford or the viper by the sound of it just need to find a good deal on them now lol
Guest Lee81
Import a clifford avantguard from the states. Should cost around £300. That will have loads of features. Locate your nearest clifford fitter and get it fitted for around £140. You'll get the full warrenty from clifford on the alarm and also certificate for insurance. They wont give you a certificate if you want the remote start fitted though. If you buy this alarm from gap security or other firms fitted you'll pay between £950 to £1500 all in so its a cheap way to do it. You'll only end up paying £450 all in for the very top spec alarm. There are cheaper ones which you'll save on fitting also.
Guest swampy83
Ok thanks why won't they give a certificate for fitting the remot start ?
Guest Lee81
Its something to do with the certicate for insurance. There are various rules about how the alarm is installed that they must comply with them. Assume there is something in relation to the vehical being started without the key and a person present in the vehical. Someone on here may know the exact details

Guest Eggsy
Clifford distributor in the UK is recently changing so supply is a bit thin on the ground @ the minute, although I do rate their proximity feature on some of there systems - ideal for cabs

Also the serial number is listed on the certificate which will be on the register for Clifford UK. If you want to chance it you could find yourself without insurance. Any decent installer would refuse to fit and supply a certificate for an import. £140 to fit would be a crap install. There is a lot of work for an advantguard hence the price in the UK. Remember, you get what you pay for!
Guest Alanman
We have Clifford Concept 650p on our cab. Its been on 4 year or so now and I cannot fault it and gives you all what you ask and more. Proximaty is fab when roof down. It has what they call blackjacks if you're worried about being car-jacked at lights. This is not activated unless you ask. It CAN be complicated if you want it to be because there is so many functions, but for normal use (locking and unlocking) its 1 simple button.
