More help needed please. My rear screen demister has suddenly stopped working. The 25 amp fuse is fine. The warning light comes on when you push the switch on. Is there a simple test to check the screen? The terminals seem clean and tidy and fit nice and snug. On page 118 of the owner's handbook, it mentions Relay R5 Grey, - Timer, heated rear screen. Could this be part of the problem? I thought this might just decide how long it should stay on for. Is it easy to test/replace/what cost/ anybody got a spare one? LOL. Anyone had similar problems? Many thanks. Burt.

Hi Burt, I'm not sure but I remember on my old mk4 escort I could put a volt meter on the connections to the screen and one on earth and it would give me a reading to check voltage was getting to the screen, the connections are half way up the screen either side. When the weather gets better il have a look in my one as I have a mk6 one now just like yours so il give it a go and let you know. Hopefuly by the weekend.

Cheers

Kev

Thank you for your replies Gentlemen. The Grey Relay arrived from eBay yesterday, and I fitted it this morning. The fuse number 27 is fine, and correct amps. I put my Mini Test Set across the rear screen, after detaching the feedwires, and I get a good continuity across the screen. ( Ohms ).I do not get any power at all to the feedwires, even though the Rear Screen Demister warning light glows on the switch. I am now the owner of four switches and two relays, and still nothing works. Also, I am still struggling with the High Intensity Rear Fog Lights. There is a double switch on the dash board, front right side, which controls the front spots and the rear fogs. The front spots work fine, the Rear Fogs come on OK, BUT as soon as you let the switch go, the rear fogs do not stay on. This happens with every switch I have tried. I am convinced one switch is completely duff, but I'm pretty sure the others are fine. If there is any more help out there, then I sure would appreciate it. Best regards,

Burt.

( In warm and sunny Llandudno ).
