  1. Here's the method I use. You need a freshly sharpened centre punch, punch a centre halfway between the stud and the outside edge of the nut, now you need a small HSS drill. Using an existing nut measure the length of a side. Make a mark on the drill of this length / depth. You can use a piece of masking take wouñd around the drill. Using a small 1\8th or 3mm drill, drill down through the nut between the stud and outside edge of the nut. Drill 2 or 3 holes. More if you are able not to drill into the stud. Either a very small çold chisel or at worst a 6" nail, try and split / crack the nut down thro the holes. Remove the remains as best yòu can! Keep chisel away from the stud of course, Hope this is helpful. Nick.
  2. Difficult to get any visible photo of the pipe, its well hidden between the engine and the rad. Starts on the left side, goes maybe three quarters of the way across the rad, 'T's off to the heater,, not sure where it then connects to. Car is in Spain, I am in Ireland! We'll meet again, September! Hoping to bring new rad with me, rad on car is obviously too small anyway, I think its for a 1.6 mine is 1.8 I dont have the correct fittings for it either, at the moment it has 'long' bolts holding it to the crossmember, obviously the rad is too small for the car, and lacking rubber mounts etc. Nick.
  3. Can anyone tell me the correct name for the pipe/tube that goes across behind the rad, left to right, seems to be connected to the heater pipe flexi. Its a 1990/91 German built Mk 4, 1.8 ltr Xr3i. (Lived in Spain all its life, no rust, anywhere! Except this pipe I'm looking for, rusty leaking pipe!). Where can I get one or should I fabricate one. Its leaking at the join where the heater pipe connects. Hope someone can help me. Part number? Still available? Etc. Etc. many thanks, Nick.
  4. Advice please. Car resides in Sunny Spain, original roof has 'shrunk', side to side and length ways. Hot Sunshine most days. Rain some days in winter. Rain brings Saharan sand with it! Clean car today, rain overnight, sandy car next day, sand ingrained in the roof! What would be the most durable roof in these weather conditions? Temps. of 40C! Can mohair withstand the heat and onslaught of sand? Would PVC weather better in mediterranean conditions. Where is best place to get new roof from, and all seals etc. Thankx, Nick.
