  1. Well its been a long 2yrs since my first post when I first bought my cabby. Had a 5/6 month period where I never even looked at the thing but finally its there. Been taking photos of the restoration of course, but missing a few from the interior rebuild 😟 Added a few minor modifications and after putting 500 miles on the clock since the rebuild have a few jobs that I'd like to do to finish it off completely. Was a decent car to start with and only required some minor patch welds to wings and n/s/r qtr panel. Bodywork stripped back to metal, all repairs done and finished in the original paint colour. All new brakes etc, engine checked and serviced, timing belt, new valve stem seals and new clutch. New mohair hood in black and replaced untidy interior trim. Finished off with ford panther black 15's. In the next few months will be looking for standard lattice or rs turbo wheels and standard springs/struts to put the suspension back to standard ride height. Now I know it will never be sold I'm also looking to discreetly upgrade the audio system to something a bit more modern, without cutting and chopping panels. Any pointers would be appreciated 😊 Will upload some pics as soon as i get to a pc my phone wont let me upload them 😐
  2. Damn it - sheared rear brake pipe in wheel cylinder

cheers guys Yeah Ollie its sikaflex. We use it for sealing truck tyres and everything the stuff sets like plastic. U reckon just get rid of the rust and bond the trim to the body?

no mate - at least I don't think so. think its the poverty spec xr3 kit. you know what I mean though? the tin top style is like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Escort-rs-turbo-xr3i-mk3-4-side-skirts-/121136939130 but the cabby one has no arch sections. actually wondering if its as simple as cutting off the arch pieces
  6. I am at a dead loss here! My side skirts on my mk4 have rusted behind the plastic trim. Its not through to the bodywork thankfully but i'm struggling to find the trim I need. Every set I see seem to have the arches part of the trim Does anyone know where I can get the correct trim? Hoping to send her for a respray soon so starting to panic
  7. Lol my daughter insists the car is pink! Sure already had the interior out and never had the insight to take pics as of now though everyhing gets a quick snap lol! Have u restored yours?
  8. It should mate I don't think they change til 1991, I might be wrong though keeping my eye on this - putting a stainless system on my 89 cabby is a must!
  9. Hi all, just wanted to share my 1989 1.6 efi Mk4 Cabby Project which I hope to have on the road before xmas. She has a pretty solid shell to start with although not without her problems. Firstly, she has rust patches on both rear arches, the N/S being holed so I think 2 new panels for piece of mind. Next, both outer sill trims are rotten underneath the trim rubber so replacements required. The paint as with all classic reds, is badly faded and sun bleached so car will undergo a full respray. To be sprayed in red base coat with lacquered finish to restore shine. Current wheels non standard although will be refurbed and sprayed in panther black and lacquered to modernise the retro styling. Later hoping to fit rs7 softlines or similar. The hood is horrific and will be replaced. Mechanically the car is pretty sound. With a boost started 1st turn of the key having not ran in nearly 2yrs. Will renew cam belt and noisy vee belt, re adjust valve clearances and carry out service. Brakes currently being overhauled and removing rust and protecting all braking and suspension components. Will probably renew exhaust system for something a wee bit more stylish than stock (any suggestions would be appreciated), and hope to fully underseal car before mot. Aiming for October so I can enjoy her before the dreaded snow and ice hits sunny Scotland!
  10. How do u work this :/
