Guest paul6car
Hi, I'm new to this forum. I have a problem with the power roof on a 1997 Escort cabby. When the switches in the passenger compartment are operated the roof doesn't move. Both relays in the boot operate when the switches in the passenger area are operated. The pump operates perfectly and the roof raises and lowers when the motor is supplied directly from a separate battery. When I checked there was no positive voltage at the contacts of the relays. There is a good earth. The positive supply comes (according to the Haynes manual) from 2 relays and a thermal switch positioned at at the back of the fuse box in the passenger compartment. Does anyone know which relays and where are the precisely located and where is the thermal switch? Regards Paul
Vincygav
The standard setup is that it can only operate the roof when in ignition position 1. If tried whilst engine is running it would not work. You can however get around this by removing a relay in the o/s kickpanel that works as an inhibitor.
Guest paul6car
Hi, Thanks for that. In the week I will try your suggestion. If it is a fuse that has failed do you have any idea where in the main fusebox it is located,I have tried all that I can find including the 20 amp one behind the relays and they are ok. Nice motor by the way. regards Paul
