Guest Zanhar25
One of the last jobs I've got to do is repair the rear heated window. I've had several attempts at this and it's driving me made. When you push the switch you hear the really "click' but nothing happens, the light on the switch doesn't come on. Things I've changed, checked, 1 changed grey relay twice last time with a brand new one! 2 changed switch but the old one checked out OK even the green And yellow LEDs worked with a battery connected. 3 heater element checked with resistance meter, all ok 4 fuse 27 ok and has 12v on it 5 fuse 11 ok and has 12v on it with ignition on. Does anyone have any ideas what else to check. Any wiring diagrams available for the heated rear window circuit? Any advice greatly received Thanks
Paul Grainger
Have you got voltage at the window? Haynes manuals are pretty good for wiring diagrams.
Guest nicholas huntley
Check continuity of screen heater element. Often a damaged/broken/burnt wire in the screen will affect the 'on' warning light as there is no power going through the screen to activate the light. You should be able to measure current at the wires going to the connectors on the screen, 12 volts of course, without a tester connect wires to a 12 volt bulb, bulb should light with screen switched on. If no light, fault must be switch end or broken/cut wire, assuming fuse is OK.
