Guest pitty
Hi i have a 1989 mfi model . I have fitted a new fuel pump which is nice and quiet when the car first starts but after running for 10-15 minutes it starts making a lot of noise which you can feel through the fuel pipe . It has a full tank of fuel so it is not that . Any help would be appreciated as the noise is a bit of a pain. Performance is not affected car goes well Thanks

Guest pitty
Hello I am not sure as it was bought for me some time ago .All i know is that it came from a local company so its not a bosch or anything like that . I have been using the car quite a bit over the week end as it has been of the road for over 7 years and i took it for a bit of a high speed blast with 4 adults in it and the pump was lovely and quiet when i got home so it seems to be a random issue . My garage heard it when they had it running while doing the m.o.t and he seemed to think it might be dirt from the tank . This is why i filled the tank up . He did suggest changing the fuel filter but im not sure if this will help Thanks for your Reply
Guest pitty
Hi Been out today for a run and the pump seems to be quiet most of the time . I read another post before and it seemed that persons pump did go quiet after time so as its new does it need time to run in ? It has only done 60 miles so far .Will changing the fuel filter Help? .Apart from the noise the car runs fine touched 80 with top down and four adults no problems .Any advise would be appreciated . On another note is their any where i can get the rear window body rubbers
Ian71
Try East Kent Trim, if its the ones for rear outside windows they are just re-making them, not cheap tho £100 cant remember if thats each or a pair.
Guest pitty
Blimey not cheap are they . will have to wait awhile if that is the case . Also does anyone now anywhere i can get replacement fuel pipes from the tank onward as mine are a bit corroded

Guest pitty
Hello Another question about my fuel pump. It has been mentioned to me that it could be a faulty relay . Does any one think this is a viable option as i dont want to invest in one if it will be a waste of time as they seem to be about £30.00 Thanks
gingergman
if the relay was faulty the car wouldnt run. cheaper pumps can be noisey, mine was for a while then did get a bit better after time. check the rubber mounts too, the vibration may make louder
Guest pitty
Hello been a while since i was last on here . I have replaced the pump and the fuel filter but the noise still keeps on . others have commented that it sounds like fuel starvation . If i remove any pipes petrol pours out so does any one now what is inside the tank by that i mean the pipe from the tank to the pump is over half way up so must be something inside to draw fuel from bottom of tank . Noise seems to happen the lower the fuel in the tank is but i am running out of things to try .Any advice would be appreciated as i know it is not the fuel filter pressure seems good as i say another new pump and it still does it .
