Hi AllI came here to help me get motivated to restore my 1990 XR3i Cabriolet.I bought it in 1995 when it had done around 30k miles. Drove it for 4 years and loved every minute of it. Since then it has been sat in my Mum's garage.Yes, that's right it has been sitting in a garage since 1999!Anyway, it's out now. One of the wheel's was seized. but sorted that and rolled her out. Doesn't look half bad considering it's been uncovered in a sweaty garage for 16 years! So, now on to the fun part. Where to start? I resisted the temptation to whack some jump leads on and see if it starts! But would like to concentrate on that element before sorting the cosmetics.I figure she needs new fluids, petrol drained and refuelled, new battery, spark plugs etc before anything else?Any guidance greatly appreciated. Never worked on a car that's been sat for so long. Will get some more pics up, hopefully at weekend.I hope there's no rust Steve
RScab
Hi Steve welcome to the club m8 I'd remover the spark plugs drop a bit of oil into the cylinders then rotate the engine by hand by placing a socket on the crank pulley nut I'd also put some fresh oil in the oil filler cap to help oil the cam & followers again rotate the engine by hand before starting check you get fuel @ the filter & lisin for the fuel pump running When your starting the car don't turn it over for to long as you may damage the Starter
Guest stez
Excellent, thanks for the tips. Didn't think of rotating it by hand - I'll definitely give that a go this weekend.
StuDaBear
I would replace the cambelt too as it may have perished.

Guest stez
Yeah, I figure most of the rubber bits will need replacing. Sure is gonna be fun finding out. Can you recommend anywhere in the NorthWest to get parts from? Will have a scout around, but always nice to hear good experiences.
