Guest Skye
Ugh I've tried various things to stop the damn rain dripping onto my seats and filling up my car with water. I have to sit on pieces of cardboard as the seat gets so wet. Anybody successfully made the window edges where it meets the upper seals watertight? Failing sorting this out I'm gonna have to get a big tarp and sit the car up and go back to my Golf GTI for winter! How am I ever gonna date with a soaking wet car? lmao
gingergman
You tried to Adjust the window so it sits higher/better?
Admin Ollie Posted February 16, 2015 Admin Share Posted February 16, 2015 I found the mohair hood was much better than vinyl one :>) as above make sure the window sits nicely under the rubber seal . I got myself some seat covers so the material doesn't get soaked
Guest Cally ann
I bought a cap cover. Easy to take on and off but I guess that's no use when you're out and about. But on a plus side I have dry seats.
Guest El87cabi
As above, check your windows are closing nicely to your seals, access your seals to make sure they aren't the cause and also check the rubber on the windscreen frame, those are the important things re windows and rubbers. Another point, there should be on the side of your roof where it meets the windscreen rubber an appx 2inch long bit of plastic that should be visible which is there to shoot the rainwater over the join between the top window to roof seal and the rubber seal on the windscreen frame, if thats not there and its in the area the waters coming in it could be your problem. Guest Skye
I changed the main roof seal but it's still leaking badly. Tried putting extra padding in the roof seals so that the window is tight up against the glass. I think I'll need to get a mohair roof as mines shrunk a bit and needs to be down over the seals more. Going to have to get seat covers as I just can't stop the water coming in. (It's a mk3 1984)
Guest El87cabi
Mohair is the way forward, before i did mine i too had seat like a wet sponge experience, its not nice at all plus with so much moisture in the car i couldn't see a thing half the time! I'd think about sheeting it up at night too, its a pain but it will keep the water out when your cars parked up
