chaz
Good to hear this mate, you have got a rare cab there, only a few hundreds 1.3's were ever built. Im glad to hear you are keeping the original engine as that what's make it special, I hope you are also going to put MK3 bumpers back on. Guest avul
well people sorted it in the end these r the pics i took just b4 it got locked away to keep her out of the wheather as she is now, mk4 bumps off, as u can see quite a bit of wrk on her 2 do the rust as really got a gd hold of her on the front end, but unlike the look on the front frm the forma boge repairs, the batt tray has no rust, boot is not rottin & last time i was underneath that was really gd 2, just hope its stayed that way! next job is 2 pull out the interior & c wat the floor pan is like, fingers crossed on that 1 as frm these pics u can tell just how bad the dash is! i know people dont like the plastic dash that i have 2 replace the vinal dash but its gonna look a hell of a lot better than this 1 & it wont crack again in the future. chaz
Ford made a big mistake in those days using the Vinyl dash on the top of the range escorts, one of the designers did not do his homework.

Guest avul
well here's the door shut's, bugger there's a smallish hole on each side at the point where the 2 rubber's meet. the pile of rubbish on the floor is the sound proofing that i ad 2 scrap out. the next job is 2 take out the nackered dash, the bottom left foot well there's a small patch of rust where the paint has flaked but the rust has not taken at all & even a scourer would clean that bit up shame about the rest tho, lol still really lucky that there's not a whole lot more i think. lucky wiv the boot 2. Guest avul
here we can see the state off the sound proofing, thin i need sum new sound proofin, any1 know of where i can get hold of sum? thats it 4 now, i'l get sum more on shortly after i pull out the dashboard, then it'll b the engine & box & so on & so on & so on, lol
gingergman
ouch! them holes in the rear shelf, that is bad, whoever done that is clearly a tw@t, thats nasty. mine did have rot in the same place on the door shuts where the rubbers join, it has a little dip there and i think it traps water. Guest avul
hi gingerman, yea not 2 impressedwiv them holes, not sure 2 just use them cos there already there or get a new parcel shelf & cut the holed 1 out & weld the new 1 in? how did u sort out ur door shut's m8? i was thinkin of takin out the whole seam of the door shut & weldin in a new part of metal that's bent to the same shape but wiv out the seam so it cant rot like that again, wat do ya think? omg took out the dash yesterday, its bad, took sum pics of it & get them up l8r, never seen 1 that bad but gd news is there's no rot under there at all, batt tray, fuse box, nothin hard 2 believe really
gingergman
hi mate, with the parcel shelf id prob weld just the holes instead of cutting more of the shelf, but its up to you what you think is best. my door shuts were just ground back, most of it was just surface, had a little bit of welding done. the lip where the rubber pushes onto is a bit thin now tho as some got grinded away. see how bad it gets with the grinder, or cut it out and replace with like you say, a piece of shaped new metal
MarineIguana
omg took out the dash yesterday, its bad, took sum pics of it & get them up l8r, never seen 1 that bad but gd news is there's no rot under there at all, batt tray, fuse box, nothin hard 2 believe really One less problem then dashes are pain in the arse
