hi all, i have been having problems with my toad alarm/immobiliser on my mk5a. i went out in cab yesterday and parked up. went back to it for it not to start, the alarm box its self was clicking and light goin mad. aswell as instrument panel not lighing up. and the alarm fob would not disarm or unlock doors i think the alarm itself was knackerd as it was draining battery and just not working as it should have. so i have removed it. traced all wires for immobiliser on ignition and removed them. basically removed every thing that has been added with that alarm. put every thing back together and still no ignition lights come on and it wont turn over. battery is fully charged. hazard lights and interior lights all work. central locking is not working. is there a fuse or relay blown anywhere that could be causing this or could it be a factory immobiliser. if it is how can i bypass it.

any help will be brill

The alarm would have been installed by putting a break in the ignition system and sometimes on another system such as fuel pump. You need to trace back to where all the wires were entering the factory cables. Alarms like the toad one can have junctions that join the wire on one side and separate on the other. This could be your problem as it looks like a join in the wire but both sides arn't connected. Also its not uncommon for relays to be put it that are trigered by the alarm. The fuel pump is a common one.

As for the battery drain the best way is to put a multimeter in the circuit to measure amps. See what its reading with car locked and unlocked. I have a toad alarm and it draws 0.04 amps. Remove each fuse from the fusebox one after the other can pin point which area you have a drain on. I have a drain of 0.30 amps and battery would die after 2 days. turned out the heated rear window was my fault
