Can someone help me and tell me what colour wire does what on the Ignition switch?

  • Interests:Ford Escorts....from the Mk1 to the Mk6. I like sorting electrical problems..Hoping to find a decent mk2 soon to work on.

The Red wire is a constant live, the black/blue is to the ignition circuits, the yellow is accessories, ie your radio, hope this helps.

Basically i am fitting an alarm and i need to wire in to the ignition wire and the starter wire but i'm not sure what ones they are!!!!

im sure you use black and blue wire....they used it on my toad alarm before on my mk4 xr3i

Yeah but i need 2 wires, 1 for the ignition and 1 for the starter. The wires i have are a red one, yellow one, a black one and a blue/black one. From what i can work out i think i need to use the black one for the ignition on the alarm and the blue/black one the the starter. Hope this makes sense and if anyone could let ne know this is correct that would be great.

Red is 12v+ from battery,
Black feeds ignition relay in fusebox.
Black/Blue is to the starter motor. (this can also sometimes be either black/red or black/yellow).
