Escort Cabriolet Club
ZETEC TEMP SENSOR TEST If your replacing the Temp Sensor on your ZETEC the also check out Rach's Guide below !!! :icon_salut_gb: LINK: http://www.escortcabrioletclub.co.uk/forum...showtopic=16178 The Sensor is the Copper nut circles in the pic between the two silver pipes. When it's taken out you will lose a fair bit of water and you will need to top the tank up afterwards, please make sure you have no air-locks !!! First thing you do to remove it is disconnect the Black Plastic Connector, it justs clips on the end, once off its a matter of unscrewing. Its a bit of a fiddly job but not too difficult. To test to see if the sensor is at fault dip it in a cup of boiling hot water and then turn the ignition key to pre-start, don't start the engine, just turn the ignition lights on. The Temp Gauge will then go up, if this happens you know it works and can refit and top up the water, if not then get a replacment fitted !!!
